Cylinder and lock replacement
Updated 2026-10-10
You moved in, lost a key, or the lock sticks. In D-Bell you book a locksmith to replace the cylinder or lock, and get quotes before you choose.
How much does lock replacement cost?
Replacing a cylinder usually costs ILS 290 to 540, and a lock ILS 300 to 550. Replacing a door mechanism costs ILS 520 to 820, and a mailbox lock ILS 120 to 220. These are average D-Bell catalog ranges, and the price depends on the cylinder security level.
When should a cylinder be replaced?
- After moving in, since you cannot know who else has a key.
- After a key was lost or stolen.
- When the key goes in with difficulty or turns only by force.
- After a break-in attempt.
Standard or high-security cylinder?
A high-security cylinder is harder to open with tools, and its key cannot be copied without a card. It costs more, but suits a front door. Say in the request what you prefer.
Who can book a replacement?
A reliable locksmith asks to see that you live at the address before opening a door or changing a lock, such as an ID with the address or a lease. That protects you too.
How is it done properly?
- Confirm the person asking for the replacement lives in the home.
- Measure the cylinder and the door so the new one fits exactly.
- Fit a cylinder that does not stick out of the door, so it is hard to snap.
- Test locking and opening with every key, from inside and outside.
- Hand over all the keys, and the cylinder’s key card if there is one.
