Why is my AC not cooling?
Common causes are filters clogged with dust, low gas because of a leak, a faulty capacitor in the outdoor unit, and a temperature sensor that reads wrong. Before you book, check that the remote is on cooling mode, the filters are clean, and the outdoor unit is running. If the indoor fan works but the air is not cold, write that in the request: it tells the technician what to bring.
How often should an AC be cleaned?
You can rinse the filters yourself every few weeks in the season when the AC runs a lot. A full cleaning, including the fan and the coil inside the unit, is worth doing before summer or when a smell appears, and more often in a home with allergies. If the AC drips, switch it off and put a towel or a bucket underneath. If there is a burning smell, also switch off its breaker at the panel and leave it off until the technician checks it.
