How much does an AC gas refill cost?
An AC gas refill usually costs ILS 490 to 980. The price depends on the gas type, how much is missing, and the size of the unit. An inspection visit costs ILS 260 to 380. These are average D-Bell catalog ranges.
Why does an AC lose gas?
An AC is a sealed system, and the gas is not used up over time. If gas is low, there is almost always a leak: at the pipe connections, in the pipes, or in the coil. A refill without fixing the leak lasts a short time, so the technician should find the leak before refilling. Ask in the quote whether the check is included.
How do I know the gas is low?
- The air is lukewarm, although the AC is on cooling and the filters are clean.
- Ice or frost on the pipes or the outdoor unit.
- The AC runs for a long time and never reaches the set temperature.
- Oil or oily dirt around the pipe connections, which can point to a leak.
It is not always the gas
The same signs can appear when the capacitor in the outdoor unit fails, the temperature sensor reads wrong, or the unit is simply dirty. Replacing a capacitor costs ILS 390 to 620, usually less than a refill. So ask for a check rather than a refill up front. Describe what happens, and the technician will find the cause.
