Skim coat and wall prep for painting
Updated 2026-10-10
Walls with cracks, bumps, and old layers of paint. Without prep, even the best paint shows every flaw. In D-Bell you book a painter to prepare the walls, and get quotes before you choose.
How much does wall prep cost?
A skim coat and wall prep usually cost ILS 20 to 45, before the painting itself. Interior wall painting costs ILS 42 to 85. These are average D-Bell catalog ranges.
What does the prep include?
- Scraping peeling paint and old layers that no longer stick.
- Filling cracks and holes.
- A full skim coat over the wall when the surface is uneven.
- Sanding and priming before the final paint.
When is a full skim coat needed?
When side light shows waves, patches, or edges between paints. It is common in older apartments or after removing wallpaper. A wall that only needs refreshing gets spot repairs. Photograph the walls or ceiling, send the photos in the request, and give the rough size in square meters. That way the painter can quote without visiting first.
