Childproofing the home
Updated 2026-10-10
The baby started crawling, and suddenly every cabinet, stair, and window looks different. In D-Bell you book a handyman to fit safety products, and get quotes before you choose.
How much does childproofing cost?
Fitting childproofing products usually costs ILS 250 to 600, not including the products. Anchoring furniture to the wall costs ILS 150 to 300 per item. These are average D-Bell catalog ranges.
What gets fitted?
- Gates at the top and bottom of stairs, screwed to the wall at the top.
- Locks on cabinets and drawers with cleaning products and knives.
- Window opening restrictors.
- Wardrobes, dressers, and the TV anchored to the wall.
What should the request say?
Say what you already bought, what the handyman should bring, and the child’s age. Say what the wall or ceiling is made of: block, concrete, or drywall, and add a photo. Before drilling, the professional checks for pipes and wiring, and you do not drill into a safe room (mamad) without checking Home Front Command guidance.
How is it done properly?
- Walk through the home with you at a child’s height and mark the hazards.
- Anchor wardrobes, dressers, and TVs that could tip over.
- Fit gates per the instructions, and at the top of stairs only a gate screwed to the wall.
- Fit locks on cabinets, drawers, and windows.
- Check each product opens easily for an adult and stays shut for a child.
