When should a cylinder be replaced?
- When a key was lost or stolen, or when you move into a new home.
- When the key sticks, turns hard, or broke inside.
- When you want a high-security cylinder with a copy card, so keys cannot be copied without it.
A cylinder change usually takes under an hour and does not mean replacing the whole lock. Measure the old cylinder or photograph it from the side, so the locksmith arrives with the right size.
