How much does an electrician cost?
Electrical work by the hour usually costs ILS 240 to 410, and an inspection visit ILS 250 to 390. Replacing an outlet or switch costs ILS 230 to 380, installing a light fixture ILS 240 to 400, and a fault diagnosis ILS 290 to 580. These are average D-Bell catalog ranges; materials are usually extra.
A new electrical point that needs a cable run costs ILS 420 to 770, and a ceiling fan ILS 280 to 440. The final price is the electrician’s quote based on your description, and you can compare several quotes before you choose. Professionals do not add travel fees on their own: anything extra found mid-job comes to you in the app to approve or decline.
What is a licensed electrician, and why does it matter?
Under the Electricity Law, electrical work is allowed only for someone licensed for that type of work. The certified electrician grade (חשמלאי מוסמך) covers work on and design of low-voltage installations up to 3×80 amps, which is the range of most apartments and private homes. A practical electrician is limited to smaller single-phase connections of up to 40 amps. It is fine, and wise, to ask to see the license before the panel is opened.
When do I need an urgent electrician?
When there is a burning smell, sparks, an outlet or switch that heats up, or the residual-current device keeps tripping and part of the home has no power. An urgent request is for today only and is priced at the D-Bell catalog range plus 30%. Replacing a broken outlet you do not use or installing a new fixture can wait for a regular slot and a regular price.
Until the electrician arrives: if there is a burning smell or sparks, switch that circuit off at the panel if you can do it safely, and do not take outlets or the panel apart yourself. A photo of the panel and the outlet from outside, and when it started, is enough to get a quote.
Why does the residual-current device trip?
The residual-current device cuts the power when it detects current leaking, for example from a faulty appliance, a wet outdoor outlet, or damaged insulation. To find the cause, switch every breaker off, reset the device, and switch the breakers back on one at a time. If it trips with nothing plugged in, the fault is probably in the wiring, and that is a job for an electrician. The residual-current device page has the details.
What are the most common electrical jobs in an apartment?
Replacing old outlets and switches, installing light fixtures and ceiling fans, adding a point in the kitchen or on the balcony, installing a Shabbat timer or a water-heater timer, and finding the fault when part of the home has no power. In an older apartment it is worth asking the electrician to look at the panel and the grounding while they are there.
How do I book an electrician on D-Bell?
- Open a request in the app and describe what is not working: which room, which outlet or switch, and what happened before it stopped.
- Add a photo of the outlet, the fixture, or the panel from outside. It is optional, but it helps you get an accurate price.
- Pick a saved address and a time, or mark it urgent for today.
- Get quotes from verified electricians, compare, and choose.
- Follow the professional on the map on the way, and approve the work when it is done.
How are electricians on D-Bell checked?
Every professional is reviewed and approved by the team before they can quote or take a job. After each job the customer and the professional rate each other, and the ratings stay in the app.
