Outlet replacement and new electrical point
Updated 2026-10-10
An outlet that turned black, a switch that moves in the wall, or a spot with no outlet at all. In D-Bell you photograph the outlet, write what you need, and get quotes from verified licensed electricians.
How much does replacing an outlet cost?
Replacing an outlet or switch usually costs ILS 230 to 380 per item, and a new electrical point ILS 420 to 770. Electrical work by the hour costs ILS 240 to 410. When you replace several outlets in one visit, say how many, and they go into one quote. These are average D-Bell catalog ranges, and the outlets themselves are usually separate.
When does an outlet need replacing right away?
- Scorch or melt marks around the outlet.
- A smell of burnt plastic, or an outlet that heats up when something is plugged in.
- Sparks when you insert a plug.
- A loose outlet that moves in the wall, or a plug that does not hold and falls out.
In these cases stop using the outlet and, if you can, switch off its circuit at the panel until the electrician arrives.
What is a new electrical point?
A point is a new outlet or switch where there was none, for example by the bed, above the kitchen counter, or on the balcony. The electrician runs a cable from an existing point or from the panel, inside the wall or in a surface channel. Say where you want it and what will be plugged in, because an AC, an oven, or a washing machine needs a suitable circuit.
How is it done properly?
- Switch off the circuit at the panel and confirm with a tester that there is no voltage.
- Check the wires behind the outlet, and trim back any burnt wire.
- Connect live, neutral, and earth in the right place and tighten them well.
- For a new point, use cable sized for the load and connect it to a suitable circuit.
- Test the outlet, including the earth, before refitting the cover.
