How much does installing a light fixture cost?
Installing a light fixture usually costs ILS 240 to 400 per item. Electrical work by the hour costs ILS 240 to 410, which suits several lamps or work that is hard to estimate in advance. These are average D-Bell catalog ranges, and the fixture itself comes from you.
What affects the price?
- Ceiling height and whether a tall ladder is needed.
- The weight of the fixture: a heavy chandelier needs strong anchoring in the ceiling.
- Whether there is already a light point there, or a new cable is needed.
- Whether the fixture has to be assembled from parts before hanging.
What should I prepare?
Leave the fixture in its box near the spot, with all screws and instructions. Photograph the ceiling where the point is and the fixture, and say whether it goes on an existing switch or a dimmer. If it hangs above a table, say at what height you want it.
How is it done properly?
- Switch off the circuit at the panel, not just the wall switch.
- Check the ceiling or wall will hold the fixture’s weight, and use suitable anchors.
- Connect the earth on a metal fixture.
- Tidy the wires inside the box and tighten the connectors.
- Switch on and check the switch, the dimmer if there is one, and that the fixture sits straight.
