No power at home

Updated 2026-10-10

Power went out in the whole home, in one room, or only in the kitchen outlets? In D-Bell you describe what happened and get quotes from licensed electricians who find the fault and fix it.

Book an electrician

What should I check before booking?

  • If the neighbors have no power either, it is probably a grid outage and not a fault in your home.
  • Whether a breaker or the residual current device tripped in the panel. You can try switching it back up once.
  • If it trips again right away, unplug everything on that circuit and try again. If it still trips, leave it down.

Do not open the panel and do not bypass a breaker. A burning smell or heat at the panel is a reason to switch off the main and book an electrician.

How much does a fault diagnosis cost?

An electrical fault diagnosis usually costs ILS 290 to 580, and an electrician inspection visit ILS 250 to 390. If the residual current device or main breaker needs replacing, that costs ILS 340 to 590. These are average D-Bell catalog ranges.

What causes a fault in part of the home?

Usually a faulty appliance tripping the residual current device, moisture in an outdoor or bathroom outlet, a loose connection in a junction box, or a worn breaker. The electrician isolates circuits one by one, measures, and finds the appliance or line causing it.

How is it done properly?

  • Start at the panel: which breaker or device tripped and what it feeds.
  • Disconnect appliances and circuits to isolate the fault.
  • Measure the supply into the panel, to know whether the fault is yours or the utility’s.
  • Fix the cause, such as a burnt connection or a short, rather than just resetting the breaker.
  • Restore power circuit by circuit and check everything works.

Frequently asked questions

Can I book an electrician urgently for today?

Yes. An urgent request is for today only and is priced at the D-Bell catalog range plus 30%.

What should I write in the request?

Which part of the home has no power, what was switched on just before, and whether anything tripped in the panel. A photo of the closed panel from the outside helps the electrician know what to expect.

What if no fault is found?

A visit that finds no fault is billed as one work hour at the professional’s hourly rate, so you know the minimum up front.

Do I get a receipt?

Yes. An official digital document is issued when the job is done, and you can open and share it from the app.
