Anti-mold paint
Updated 2026-10-10
Black spots in the ceiling corner, in the bathroom, or behind a wardrobe come back even after cleaning. Anti-mold paint helps, but only after the cause is fixed. In D-Bell you photograph the wall and get quotes from verified painters.
Does anti-mold paint solve the problem?
Only in some cases. Anti-mold paint contains agents that slow mold growth on the wall surface, but it does not dry a wet wall. If the damp comes from a pipe leak or seepage through the roof or facade, the mold comes back through the new paint. When the mold comes from condensation, for example a bathroom without ventilation or a cold corner in winter, the right treatment and paint improve things a lot.
How is mold treated before painting?
- Check for a source of damp: a spreading stain, peeling paint, or a wall wet to the touch. If so, book a plumber for leak detection first.
- Clean the mold with a dedicated product and let the wall dry thoroughly.
- Scrape off peeling paint and smooth the damaged areas.
- Paint with anti-mold paint, usually in two coats.
How much does anti-mold painting cost?
Painting interior walls usually costs ILS 42 to 85 per square meter, and a standard room ILS 740 to 1520. Treating one corner or a bathroom ceiling usually falls under touch-up hours, ILS 150 to 260 per hour. Anti-mold paint is usually extra and costs more than regular paint, and the painter lists it in the quote. These are average D-Bell catalog ranges.
How do I stop mold coming back?
Air the bathroom after showers, leave a gap between wardrobes and outside walls, and run a dehumidifier in damp rooms in winter. Drying laundry indoors raises humidity. And if mold returns to the same spot after treatment, there is a source of damp to find.
