A water filter protects faucets, the water heater, and appliances from sand, rust, and debris in the pipes.
How much does it cost?
Installing a whole-apartment filter on the main line usually costs ILS 300 to 550. The filter itself is not included. Harder installs are quoted or billed at ILS 230 to 390.
Whole-apartment or under-sink?
A whole-apartment filter sits at the inlet and protects everything downstream. An under-sink filter treats drinking water at one tap. You can have both.
How is it done properly?
- Install the filter after the main valve, where the cartridge is easy to change.
- Add valves before and after the filter, so the cartridge can be changed without shutting off the whole home.
- Flush the new cartridge before use.
- Mark the installation date so you know when to replace it.
- Check for leaks and that tap pressure did not drop.
