A disposal under the kitchen sink saves smelly bags, as long as it is connected and used properly.
How much does it cost?
Installing a garbage disposal usually costs ILS 350 to 530, unit not included. Repairs such as freeing jammed blades or replacing a seal are billed at ILS 230 to 390 or in a fixed quote.
What you need
An electrical outlet under the sink, ideally on its own switch, a standard sink drain opening, and room in the cabinet.
How is it done properly?
- Check there is room under the sink and a suitable outlet nearby.
- Fix the unit to the sink opening with its mounting ring so it does not vibrate.
- Connect the drain through a trap, and the dishwasher hose to its inlet if there is one.
- Run it with cold water and check for leaks and normal noise.
- Explain what can and cannot go into the disposal.
