Noisy AC and fan motor replacement
Updated 2026-10-10
The AC hums, knocks, or vibrates, or the fan does not spin at all. In D-Bell you book an AC technician to diagnose and fix it, and get quotes before you choose.
How much does a fan motor replacement cost?
Replacing an AC fan motor usually costs ILS 500 to 1000. A technician diagnostic visit costs ILS 260 to 380. These are average D-Bell catalog ranges.
What causes the noise?
- Dirt on the fan drum, which throws it off balance.
- Worn motor bearings, which hum or squeak.
- A loose screw or a compressor not fixed firmly to the wall.
- A weak capacitor, so the fan struggles to start.
Before replacing anything
Not every noise is the motor. Sometimes cleaning or tightening a screw is enough. Ask the technician to explain what they found before a part is replaced. Photograph the model sticker on the indoor unit and on the outdoor compressor, and send it in the request. That way the technician knows which part to bring.
How is it done properly?
- Find where the noise comes from: the motor, a blade, a bearing, or loose screws.
- Clean the fan wheel, because dirt throws it off balance.
- Fit a motor that matches the model and check its capacitor too.
- Tighten the brackets and the outdoor unit so it does not vibrate.
- Run it at every speed and check the noise is gone.
